Meet our team of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu instructors

Gracie Barra Laval Instructors are held responsible to high standards of etiquette, instruction and philosophy set by Master Carlos Gracie Jr. and the Gracie Barra Association. To maintain the integrity and focus on safety in our schools, all of our instructors are certified. Additionally, our instructors are all required to be CPR/Basic First Aid certified.

David GuiGui

Head Instructor

Your head instructor and coach, David Guigui, is a pioneer in both Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts. He is one of the most experienced Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructors in Laval and Quebec. Coach Guigui started his fighting career in 1995 under Angelo Exarhakos and quickly made a name for himself in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, winning national and local championships. In 1997, Coach Guigui moved into the amateur fighting scene. He dominated his opponents with his slick grappling style and an impressive 25-3 record. Recognized for his amateur achievements, coach Guigui made the jump to the professional ranks of the IFC. As a pro fighter, coach Guigui had the privilege of training with such names as David Loiseau, Ivan Menjivar, Jonathan Goulet, Firas Zahabi and Georges St-Pierre.

Coach Guigui has worked as a team member and an instructor at Gracie Barra Montreal under Professor Bruno Fernandes since 2006. As a proud member of the Gracie Barra Organization, Coach Guigui has been able to hone his old school, guard-based style.

Coach Guigui believes in the Gracie Barra philosophy of respect, integrity, brotherhood and personal discipline. He is committed to teaching the “Gracie Barra Way”, and passing on our creed of “Jiu-Jitsu for everyone”. As an ambassador of the international Gracie Barra Team, coach Guigui is proud to teach a style that provides a strong foundation of learning for every man, woman and child.

As head instructor of Gracie Barra Laval, coach Guigui is proud to be establishing a strong team based in the city where he grew up and hopes to create an atmosphere that all his students will be proud to be a part of.
